The following is a list of frequently asked questions that most people have when considering hiring a personal chef. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have further questions.
Is it necessary that you cook in my home?
Health Department regulations require that I prepare and cook your meals in your kitchen or in a commercially licensed kitchen. At this time, I only cook in people’s homes, or at a location where the meals will be served.
How long does it take for you to cook my meals?
This depends upon how many entrees and servings you order. However, I am typically in a person’s home between 4 and 5 hours.
Do I heat the food that you prepare?
Yes, and I will leave you detailed instructions to help you with this. Dishes should be defrosted overnight in the refrigerator and then reheated either on the stove top, oven or microwave.
Do I need to be home when you cook for me?
No, many clients have busy schedules and may not be able to be home on the appointed cooking day. However, you are welcome to be home if it works with your schedule.
I would love to watch you while you cook. Is this possible?
Unfortunately, cooking and carrying on a conversation is a little bit like rubbing my tummy and tapping my head at the same time. In other words, it takes my full attention to be able to successfully create your dishes. You are welcome to be home, but it is important for you to know that I will need to put my full attention on the cooking.
How much space will you need in the refrigerator and freezer for the meals?
This again depends on many many entrees and servings you order, but meals do take up a considerable amount of space in the freezer and refrigerator. Please make space in these areas before I come for the cooking day.
How large are the servings that you make?
Each serving is comparable to a very healthy serving at a restaurant. Depending on how large your appetite is, it is likely that your meals will give you more servings than I actually create for you.
